Description
We are seeking two highly motivated and dedicated Surgical Critical Care Fellow to join our intensive training program for the upcoming 2026-2027 year. This fellowship offers a rigorous, high-volume clinical experience within a closed surgical trauma ICU, designed to prepare the next generation of leaders in surgical critical care.
Our program provides unparalleled exposure to the most complex patient pathologies in both trauma and emergency general surgery. You will work alongside a passionate, multidisciplinary faculty deeply committed to clinical mastery, academic excellence, and the training of future surgeons.

Research & Community Impact
Our fellowship is deeply committed to "bridging the gap" between academic research and community health. We offer robust opportunities to engage in clinical research that directly addresses the needs of our local population:
Injury Prevention Initiatives: Fellows have the opportunity to lead and participate in community-based injury prevention programs, utilizing trauma registry data to identify local high-risk trends and implement targeted educational outreach.
Health Equity Research: We support projects focused on outcomes disparities within our surgical trauma population, aiming to develop interventions that improve access to care and long-term recovery for vulnerable community members.
Translational Quality Improvement: You will be encouraged to design and implement quality improvement studies within our ICU that directly improve patient safety and community health outcomes, turning clinical observations into actionable practice changes.
Requirements
Application Process & Requirements
Application Portal: All applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), as we participate in the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and APDS aligned match cycles.
Interview Scheduling: We utilize Thalamus for all interview scheduling and communication. Once your application has been reviewed and you are selected for an interview, you will receive an invitation via email with instructions to schedule your session through the Thalamus platform.
Required Documentation:
- Current Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Personal statement outlining your dedication to surgical critical care and trauma surgery.
- Three letters of recommendation, including one from your current program director.
- Official medical school transcripts and USMLE/COMLEX scores.
- Successful completion of a residency program in General Surgery (or equivalent surgical specialty).
- Board eligibility in the primary surgical specialty.
- A strong passion for critical care, a commitment to academic rigor, and a desire to shape the future of the field.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
