Description

The Division of Surgical Oncology and the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, the largest integrated healthcare system in Maryland and one of only two of the states’ NCI designated cancer center are seeking a Surgical Oncologist. This role is focused on practice in the National Capital Region (Washington D.C./Bethesda).  Clinically this role is focused on general surgical oncology (hepato-pancreato-biliary, gastric, neuroendocrine, melanoma and soft tissue sarcoma).  The candidate is expected to participate in developing and expanding academic and clinical research activities devoted to the surgical evaluation and management of oncologic surgery. There is an opportunity to teach fellows, and develop initiatives to expand quality and high-value surgical oncology care.

Research endeavors will be encouraged and supported.  Clinical research and health services research are abundant.  New faculty has opportunity to collaborate with and access resources via the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality.  



Requirements

Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Candidates should have satisfactorily completed a training program in general surgery accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and be board certified, or eligible if recently trained, and eligible for licensure in Maryland, and Washington, D.C with the training to qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Fellowship training is required from a fellowship program approved by the Society of Surgical Oncology.
